Google Chrome is awesome

I'm generally way behind the times on new technology.  So, not surprisingly, I am more than two years behind on Google Chrome.  I downloaded it on my office computer at the suggestion of our IT guy.  I have been playing with it for a couple of days, and it's awesome - at least better than my old browser, Internet Explorer 8.

Cnet has a recent review, so here is the techno-babble (link).  You can download the software from them, or from Google.

Chrome is sleek, faster, and doesn't crash (update: crashed it once when I was messing with background themes; came back fine).  The "omnibox" allows users to enter web site or search criteria in the same place.  Chrome is very intuitive, and bookmarks are simple to set up.  You can easily import all of your favorites into Chrome.  The tabbed browsing is excellent.  Did I mention it is faster?  All of my girlfriend's games and facebooking move faster in Chrome.  It also has a private, or "Incognito" browsing feature; I haven't used it yet.

Take a look at the extensions, that might enhance your browser.  An occasional pop-up gets through even though I have it set to block all pop-ups.  There's a lot I still have to figure out about Chrome, but so far I like it much more than IE8.  I'll give it more time and continue to customize and optimize the settings to my preferences.

So long for now Internet Explorer.
